b P6 Final Novel Project Ideas Due March 25 by 10 p.m.

Now that the writing SOL is over, we’ll be picking up our novels again. Instead of a paper for the final project, we might create something else. Make some suggestions as to what would work. Note at least one specific item that should be graded as part of the assessment. Remember: complete sentences count.

Example:

I’d like to create a poster that focuses on at least two different types of conflicts.

Instead of writing a paper, we could do a variation of a class discussion. This is something we did with Mr. Livengood last year when we read "The Pearl" as a class. Everyone could come up with a few conversation topics to talk about before the discussion. The day of the discussion, there would be four desks in the middle of the room, and the rest of them next to the wall. Four people would start out debating their topics, and when someone has nothing left to say, he/she would switch places with someone else who isn't in the middle already. Eventually, everyone would have discussed the book, and each individual could be graded on the level of participation.

Instead of a final project writing, we should do some sort of group visual project, like a PowerPoint.

I would like to create a visual project, a video. The video could show first-person views and thoughts of The Giver characters.

We could do a movie trailer as a summary of the book so far.

I think we should do a poster that describes the plot, setting, time line of the book in groups.

I think that for an end of book project we should do Posters with 2 or 3 people and have them discuss a plot diagram of the boo and make one with pictures put on.

I would like to write three or more poems about three or more most important chapters in the book, or a booklet of multiple chapters from the book.

Sorry, my last blog got submitted too early. Instead of a paper for our final project, I think a whole class discussion on what we thought of the book/what we think might happen would be a good alternative.

Instead of writing a paper for our final project, I think that having a whole class discussion would be neat.

I'd like to create a PowerPoint with a partner that focuses on all the aspects of the book. This way will express teamwork and we would be capable to use more of the book in the context
