We would like to provide you with some information for the 2019-2020 upcoming girls’ basketball season.  Try-outs will begin immediately after school on Wednesday November 6th-November 8th until 4:50. This is after a four-day weekend, therefor  we are asking that all paperwork get turned in as early as possible, so the girls do not forget and miss out on one of the days.  The paperwork is proof of concussion training, a current sports physical on the county physical form (6th grade parents, this is not the wellness form/shot record that was turned in at the beginning of the school year), and a current blue emergency card.  If your daughter participated on a fall sport, they will only need a blue emergency card.  The rest of the information has to do with team selection.

Again, there will be 3 team days only which are Wednesday through Friday.  Before trying out you should make sure that you will be able to provide a ride home on Mondays and Fridays as we only offer activity buses Tuesday-Thursday.  All rides need to be here by 4:55 on those days.  Also, participating on rec/travel teams is allowed but shall not conflict with our schedule.  JV will always play first followed by the varsity games.  The JV game starts between 4:45 and 5 and the varsity game starts close to 6 usually.  More information will be given out to those girls that make the team.  The schedule is online on the Marsteller athletic webpage.  Most of the games are Tuesday and Thursday with one Wednesday and 2 Friday games.  If your daughter makes the team, we will practice every evening right after school.  The following information is about team selection.

Each day during try-outs we will evaluate the girls. We are not required to keep any number of girls from each grade level.  Team selection will only be based on these 3 days of try-outs; playing in the past, playing travel, nor coming to summer camp have any influence on making the team.  We are looking for the 24 best girls during the 3 days.  We are looking for girls who can handle the ball with both hands, can shoot lay-ups with both hands, can shoot jump shots with proper form and consistency, have basic defensive skills, and are coachable.  We will evaluate each girl on all these skills and put them in small scrimmage situations to evaluate further.   After the third day we will post the teams.

I hope this helps you all understand the process for team selection and the try-out process for girls’ basketball.  Again. please turn in all paperwork ASAP.  Thanks for your interest in our program.  If you have any questions contact Mr, Kibler at kiblerss@pwcs.edu.

JV WILL PLAY FIRST ALL SEASON
inclement weather and sports
In the event that THERE IS A DELAY IN THE school day 1 hour or 2 hour delay, then the afternoon games would go on as scheduled (unless the weather would worsen).  In the event of SCHOOL BEING CLOSED, then the game is cancelled and will be rescheduled.  I hope this helps
