Mrs. Miller

Welcome to Sixth Grade Language Arts!

Our goal this year is to grow together as a community of readers and writers.  This means we will work to develop a reading habit, each of us with our own goals.  We will read novels, nonfiction books and articles, and view media not only for school, but most especially, for our own enjoyment.  We’ll talk to one another about our reading and share what we love -- and sometimes what we don’t! Writing is strengthened by our reading, and we’ll have opportunities to use models of good writing to practice improving our own.  I’m eager to get started!

I come to teaching from a journalism and public relations background. My experiences working with students as a substitute teacher while my own children were in middle school sparked my desire to teach.  I earned a master’s degree to teach secondary school from George Mason University.  My husband and I have two young adult children who are PWCS graduates and (thankfully!) gainfully employed.  I have been teaching at Marsteller for seven years!
