Postcards will be mailed out to all 8th-grade students informing them of these events. 

Eighth-grade students and their parents are invited to investigate the variety of specialty programs available to students as high school options. Two general information sessions will introduce PWCS specialty programs and offer an overview of the application process. Representatives from specialty programs, career and technical education, and JROTC programs will be present to answer your questions. 


Information presentations will be offered in both English and Spanish.

Stonewall Jackson High School

Gar-Field High School

October 21, 2019

7 - 9 p.m.

(Eastern programs - Forest Park, Gar-Field, Potomac, Woodbridge)

Moving On Up - Transition to High School


Parent Meeting - October 14 - 10:30 - 11:30 am in the cafeteria to see what to expect in 8th grade and beyond! 

 Click Transition to High School 2020  to see what was discussed concerning 8th grade requirements,  high school requirements and options that are available for our students. It's not too early to start thinking ..... high school scheduling starts in January!  Students will be getting this presentation the week of October 16.  Most Specialty Program applications are due Feb 1, 2020!

nformation Meeting 12/4/19 and 1/8/20 at 6:30 pm

Rising 9th Grade Parent Info Night: January 23
Battlefield High School will host Rising 9th Grade Parent Info Night on Thursday, January 23, 2020.  Department representatives will be available to answer parent questions in the Commons 6:00pm-7:00pm.  Presentation by the Director of School Counseling, Julie Byrne, begins at 7:00pm in the auditorium.  This transition meeting is for all parents of 8th graders who reside in the Battlefield attendance area.

In case of inclement weather, the snow date for this event is Tuesday, January 28, 2020.


Brentsville District High School
Brentsville District High School will host its final Specialty Program Information Night on Thursday, January 16 @ 7 p.m. at 12109 Aden Road, Nokesville, VA. Our event affords prospective students the chance to meet and converse with the school administration, faculty, students and current parents of our Cambridge and Agriculture Programs. The deadline to apply for Specialty Transfer is February 1, 2020.

6pm-6:30pm      Rising 9th grade Parent Orientation Information – Mr. Joe Banks will discuss the registration process, levels of classes, scheduling and graduation requirements

6:30pm-7pm      Specialty Program Information – Ms. Katie Swanson will discuss the AP Scholars, Building Trades, Culinary, PLTW and Teachers for Tomorrow Programs

7pm-8pm            Electives Fair in Commons 2– Teachers from each content area will discuss electives offered within that content area
