The Association of Middle Level Education (AMLE) serves as a resource and proponent of middle level education and the implementation of vital beliefs regarding what constitutes a successful middle school experience for students. Programs and practices in place at Masteller Middle School support one of the most important tenets of a high-performing middle school: Developmental Responsiveness. Masteller strives to provide a learning environment that is engaging, supportive, and safe, and where all are advocates of our middle school students.

This We Believe: In Action (2012) discusses characteristics that represent a safe and effective learning culture:

  • The environment promotes creativity, responsibility, and critical thinking
  • The environment fosters mutual trust and request
  • Staff and students feel safe at school and in work-related activities
  • Staff, students, and parents report that the learning environment is academically stimulating
  • Students advocate and practice responsible use of information and technology (p. 136)

All Masteller Bulldogs work collaboratively to sustain a culture where kindness and respect are consistently observed and where bullying behavior and unkind interactions are not permitted. Our B.A.R.K. program (Behavior, Attitude, Responsibility, and Kindness) is our positive behavior intervention system which provides a framework that supports an environment of caring and consideration for all. Information surrounding the B.A.R.K. program is presented to our students and teachers together through our B.A.R.K. assemblies. The information shared and discussed during out assemblies is also included here.

Masteller Middle School is committed to a school environment in which students are free from bullying. If you suspect your child is being bullied, please contact the school and inform an administrator immediately.
