Our School Nurse
Hello! I'm Megan Wallace, the Registered Nurse here at Marsteller. Getting to know me...Prior to coming to Marsteller, I have expierence in Med. Surg., PACU, and ICU. I recently transitioned out of the Intensive Care Unit to come to Marsetller. I have spent more than 25 years in Northern Virginia. Please feel free to stop by and say hello or send me an email with any questions or concerns.
Required 7th grade Vaccines

A booster of Tdap (Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis ), one dose of Meningococcal Conjugate (MenACWY, MCV4 or Menactra), and at least one dose of Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine. Please note, parents/guardians may elect for child not to receive the HPV vaccine. Please schedule an appointment with your health care provider or the health department.
If your health care provider or the health district indicates your student cannot receive the immunization (s), please provide us with a statement for medical exemption from the health care provider. Religious exemption forms may also be submitted, and the form is available on the Virgina Department of Education website.

Health Promotion
As we are entering the cold and flu season, this is a reminder of the best health practices to decrease the spread and transmission of viruses in PWCS schools.
Please remember to cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze and throw used tissues in the trash. If you don't have a tissue, cough, or sneeze into your elbow, not your hands. Wash hands often with soap and water for 20 seconds, dry hands with a paper towel, and use the paper towel to turn off the faucet. If soap and water are not available, hand sanitizers may also be used to preform hand hygiene. Remember to stay home when you’re sick until at least 24 hours without a fever or the use of fever reducing medicine. Together we can help stop the spread of germs that may make you and others ill.
Keeping Our Kids Healthy
The goal of the student health program is to support the learning and academic success of our students! Please help ensure the safety and health of all Marsteller students by:
- Notifying your school nurse of any health concerns or chronic health condition that may affect your child's school day.
- Following PWCS regulations when requesting medication to be given to your child during the school day.
- Providing current emergency contact information for your student, keeping the emergency card updated at all times.
- Notifying school personnel if your child is absent due to a contagious illness.
- Keeping sick students at home (Regulation 757-1) and supporting school staff in keeping well children in school.
- Notifying PE teachers directly if your child has any PE restrictions.
- Encouraging good hygiene/hand washing practices at home and school.
Medications In a School Setting
- You may bring a new, unopened bottle of over the counter medication for your student.
- The doctor needs to fill out the Medication Authorization Form for prescriptions.
- Students may NOT carry their own medication UNLESS they have a specific treatment plan in place.
- All paper work must be signed & medication must be brought in by a parent.

Each School year a new Health Treatment Plan is required for every student with a medical condition which may necessitate treatment at school.- Health Treatment Plans for ASTHMA (Reg 757-5)

- OTHER PROCEDURES or EMERGENCY health treatments (Reg 757-3)
To facilitate a positive transition to the new school year, you and your health care provider must complete and sign the corresponding health treatment plan before treatment is implemented at school.
