About

Best Buddies International is a nonprofit organization dedicated to establishing a global volunteer movement that creates opportunities for one-to-one friendships, between students with and without disabilities.

What To Expect

  • Best Buddies' Friendship Programs offer opportunities for students with and without IDD, SD, and Autism to come together and build meaningful connections while creating a more inclusive school community.
  • Within a Best Buddies chapter, students are invited to participate in monthly group activities and will be matched in one-to-one friendship with a peer without disabilities.
  • These 'buddy pairs' spend time together and communicate in school - at least once a week and will be encouraged to spend time together twice per month - during school or during a chapter meeting.
  • Monthly activities may take place during school hours or after school.
  • The chapter officer team and advisors will determine the times and frequency of meetings and events.

How To Join

All students must complete a membership application to participate in Best Buddies. The form collects contact information as well as parent/caregiver consent for participation. The membership application is available online.

Learn More

If you are interested in being more involved, please email Lee-Ann Paik, Best Buddies Advisor, at [email protected] or Koeen Madsen, Assistant Principal, at [email protected] to learn how you can best support the Best Buddies program at Marsteller Middle School! Miss Ashley Powell will also be on hand to assist with Best Buddy needs.
