Casting Update 10/16
Around sixty students signed up to audition for 27 spots. The quality of singing, acting, and dancing was outstanding this year. Even so, since we are only having one cast, it was necessary to make cuts.
Casting a musical is like completing a difficult puzzle. The casting panel needs to fit the pieces together so that each student can shine in their specific role. Some years you might be the lead, some years you’re part of the ensemble, and some years you are cut. This can be difficult to understand for students and parents (and is one of the most difficult parts of my job).
If you didn’t make it into the show, please don’t take it to mean that you don’t have talent. I will be happy to speak to you and review the rubrics scored by the casting panel. There will be other opportunities to participate in the Dramatix this year.
The first rehearsal will be on Monday, October 21 from dismissal until 5:30. We will meet Teusday and Thursday next week as well. A full rehearsal calendar for October and November will be sent to students along with the casting contract prior to Monday's meeting.
Seeking Skilled Carpenters:
I am looking to make some semi-perminant modifications to the stage and build out this year's set more. This would be more involved than Annie JR. I am looking for parents with carpentry knowledge and skills to donate their time to help make this possible- not just for this year's show, but for the future of Theatre at Marsteller.
